Feelings of Christmas: Joy, Hope and Peace

This is truly the most wonderful time of the year, re-newing our thankfulness for the true reason we do celebrate Christmas, JESUS was born on this day, and gave us eternal hope, joy
and true peace to hold in our hearts forever, and some fine day, we will be able to rejoice in
that glorious place prepared for us called "heaven"!

Our hearts are over-flowing with the "good news," that changed men's hearts forever, making a direct pathway to Our Heavenly Father, who bestows wonderful blessings on his
children, who love and adore Him, and believe He is the "chosen one", the King of Kings, our
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Our mighty Saviour of the world---JESUS, YOU ARE HIM!!

Often times, I've heard folks say that Christmas is a chore with all the things to be done, all
the gifts to be wrapped, all the cards to be mailed, and all the baking to be accomplished--but
wait just a minute---Let Jesus fill your heart, mind and soul with the "Good Tidings of Great Joy"---he will give us the peace, love and joy and hope that each human soul desires! We must
make time for Jesus, and he will give us the strength and happiness we need, to truly fill our
hearts with the joys and blessings of Christmas time.

I love to have our family around us at Christmas, and one of the true delights is seeing the
children's bright & happy faces light up, when they open their surprise gifts around the tree!
All the noise, and excitement of a big, happy family must truly be a treasure to recall through
the entire year. To be able to enjoy our big family, and all the blessings God has sent our way
through our four children, and all the grand-children, and one great-grandson, is truly a joy
close akin to a heavenly experience. I do thank God for each and every one of our wonderful
blessings of "family"! That just enhances the spirit of Christmas, when you can be with and enjoy the company and grand fellowship of those you hold so close to your heart!

I also love the Christmas carols, the cantatas, the plays depicting the birth of Jesus, and
all the shepherds, wisemen and angels attending His glorious and miraculous birth! On one
year, two of our grand-children were dressed in robes and headgear, and another played the
part of a sheep, with another boy dressed as a sheep beside him---and believe it or not the
sheep (boys) began pushing each other, and one fell off the stage, bringing his wooly white rug
with him!! Of course, the folks laughed heartily at this, but in real life---things like that happen!
They just made the best of it, and climbed back up on the stage and continued the play, which
was one of my favorites of the season.

So--as you prepare to enjoy your Christmas season, take time to pause and be so very thankful for THE GREATEST GIFT EVER GIVEN --- JESUS!! He is the true and valid reason
we celebrate this event called Christmas, and we must never, never forget, and we must continue to teach our children, and our grandchildren----Christmas is the birthday of Jesus!! Hallelujah, what a Saviour!!

The Polar Express in Bryson City--WOW!!

We were all excited to finally be at the train station in Bryson City, NC, and and ready to experience our big adventure on the train with our son and his family, including 3 children under age eight years old! We had hurriedly parked the family van nearby, and then called for our reserved train tickets at the station window, and were told to get in a certain line to meet our conductor. The children could hardly contain their vivid excitement, as many families were all around us, & lots of the little children were dressed in their colorful pajamas, with their robes tied around them, waiting for the big adventure on "The Polar Express"! There was the rumor that hot cocoa and Christmas treats would be served on the train, and a possible visit from Santa Claus himself!! Finally, at long last--our time came up to board the train, and we excitedly found our assigned seats in the coach car, and we watched all the other families get on board, with their kids in their colorful pajamas & robes, scrambling around to get their special seats as well. Then the call finally came from the conductor,
"All aboard for the Polar Express"! We began chugging out of the station at last, and the excitement was in process!

There we were, seeing all the beautiful sights from our window seat, the
beautiful storefronts all decorated for the holiday season, the thousands of beautiful Christmas trees with their minature lights blinking off and on, and golden glowing candles in every window of each home we passed, as well as
the glorious decorations in the yards, mostly all were religious scenes. One
church was absolutely heavenly with their outstanding decorations, and the church itself was all aglow with candles and greenery. They definitely believed in the hanging of the greens for this special time of the year, when we celebrate the glorious birthday of Jesus--Our King!

We were chugging along, passing the beautiful river, and over the trussels, back into those beautiful Smoky Mountains! It was such a fun time for everyone, and then our two chefs on the train, came down the aisle with their carts, giving out delicious hot cocoa and other mouth-watering goodies to
please the palate! We were having the time of our lives, loving every minute of the beautiful sights and sounds of the train whistle, and the choo-ka-lacka, choo-ka-lacka sounds, that we were getting used to on this long
and exciting ride through the grand Smokies!

All of a sudden, the train stopped at another station, and the conductor announced that we had a special visitor that wanted to board the train, and it was none other than Santa Claus! The children and adults as well, all shouted and were so gleeful, and sure enough, there was Santa, with gifts to hand out to
all the children! He also gave them a small jingle bell to remind them that they were indeed riding on "the Polar Express" and did get to visit Santa Claus.

I did get a big hug from Santa too, and according to him, I will indeed get
what I want for Christmas! (chuckle) Everyone had a blast talking and laughing with Santa, and he finally departed the train with "Merry Christmas
to all and to all a good-night-- Ho-Ho-Ho------Merry Christmas to You-All!"

We then followed the lead of our famous chefs on the train, and sang as loud as we could all those favorite Christmas songs such as: Rudolph, the Red Nose
Reindeer, Jingle Bells, Here Comes Santa Claus, Silver Bells, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas, and Jingle-Bell Rock, just to mention a few! It was indeed a grand and glorious time on this special "Polar Express"--- so if you are inclined
to take a ride on this special fun train, be sure to order your tickets very early,
as they book up very fast. Here's wishing you happy traveling on the famous
Smoky Mountain Polar Express from Bryson City! When we arrived back at the train station in Bryson City, everyone was invited to visit the train museum just over the tracks, where about 25 special minature trains were riding the rails, and you could choose your favorites and mark their schedules on your special card they give you as you enter the museum. The children loved this playland so very much, as well as the adults, and at the rest area inside, they were playing the movie for free, called none other than "Polar Express"! That place was packed with all the train riders, as well as the casual visitors that just happened on the scene!

After that, we enjoyed a delicious down-home dinner at The Famous Jarrett House in nearby Dillsboro--what a big treat that was, (it's family style eating, and they re-fill your bowls at the table as often as necesary! ) We were stuffed when we finally had our fill of those delicious treats at the Jarrett House!

Wow--what a fabulous weekend, and we also loved the beautiful cabin located at Mountain Top---(yes, literally at the very tip top of a mountain near
Bryson City, )which included a huge deck and heated jacuzzi, which we used
for relaxation every night! Here's wishing you grand adventures in the famous Smoky Mountains!! You will definitely cherish the glorious memories!

Christmas Is Jesus!!

Here we are-- in the truly glorious Christmas season already, and I have hung some beautiful
wreaths with their bright red bows on the outside of our home; but I still have the tree to put up and decorate, all the candles to place in the windows, the gifts to wrap (even though I have already purchased and wrapped some); and the baking to do for the "big family Christmas", and
oh yes, the decoration of the lamp post as well! I must get myself in gear for all these festivities
coming up, and continue practicing the beautiful Cantata called "Christmas Is Jesus"-- a truly
beautiful and splendid arrangement of what Christmas is all about, and how we should really
celebrate the birth of Jesus, our blessed Saviour!!

When our Minister of Music, Ms. Sparti, brought the music to the choir's vivid attention, we
all fell in love with this beautiful cantata, and have been practicing it weekly for some time now,
and will present it on Sunday, December 23, 2007, to share the Christmas story in splendid
song with many others, and impart a blessing to their hearts and souls, about the true meaning of Christmas!

The writer of this special musical, intends to make sure no one misses the true meaning
of Christmas, and how we should never, ever forget what Christmas truly means--Jesus came into this world to show us how to live, how to depend on Our Heavenly Father, and how to have
wonderful, deep, and meaningful fellowship with the Holy One, and many others
in this world. His purpose was to save mankind from our sins, and he died on the cross to
save our very souls, and created a direct way to believe in the Holy Trinity: God --the Father,
God-- the Son, and God-- The Holy Spirit, thus if we believe in Him, confess our sins, ask for forgiveness and turn from our
wicked ways, asking him to live in our hearts forever, we will have direct communication through the Holy Spirit to Our Heavenly Father! He allows the Holy Spirit to enter our
being, giving us comfort and strength as we need it, and intercedes on our behalf -- in our fervent
prayers. He has provided the way, so we would not perish--but have beautiful, eternal life,
and live with Him forever in that glorious, wonderful place called "Heaven" someday, when
this life on earth is over, according to His time-plan for each of us! As we sing this glorious
Christmas Cantata, it reminds me over and over, how much we owe to Our Heavenly Father,
who gives us the very breath we breathe, day by day, and how much he loves us--even when
we stumble and make mistakes, HE is always there to pick us up, brush us off, and set us once
again on the path he has planned for each one of us, what a glorious and marvelous God we
serve and adore! In this special cantata, there is one part that is about God's presence at
Christmas, His peace and comfort in the midst of this world in which we live--such a busy,
and sometimes turbulent and dangerous place--but HIS true peace and comfort is there for
us--we just need to ask for it through the Holy Spirit! In the music, the words convey this
thought vividly, ----"Of all the gifts I may receive, there is only one I really need, and It's
Your Presence, Your Presence for Christmas!" Halleulujah---JESUS is the One, the Way, the
Truth, and The Light---Let's Honor Him through our singing, our giving, our fellowship, and
through our daily living!! Yes, friends, "JESUS IS CHRISTMAS"!

Hope you will have a very special and glorious Christmas, as we truly celebrate the special
birthday of Jesus! Isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful!! Christmas Is JESUS!!

Cantata will be presented on Sunday morning, Dec. 23, 2007; 11:00 A.M., Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Cleveland County, located at
1301 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Mooresboro, N.C. (located near Boiling Springs, N.C. just off
Cliffside Road) It would be a pleasure to see you there for the cantata: " Christmas Is Jesus"!!

The Rainbow Promise

So amazing, so divine, during the summer rain, colors of every kind--come glowing across the plain!

The golden sun kept sending bright rays at intervals all during the awesome storm; which
brightened up our very slow day. Meanwhile the beautiful, vivid and colorful rainbow was born!

Colors of every hue in this glorious and splendid arch, as we remembered God's promise of
no more floods; as time is forever on the march.

Such a blessing are the promises in God's Holy Word, knowing that He is our protector and our
daily guide---

On our upward Journey to the "Heavenly White Pearly Gates"--

What a grand and loving assurance, to feel His Holy Presence, and just be able to walk by His side,
and keep His Holy Spirit in our hearts as we take our daily strides!

The Billowing Seas

The wild storm was raging, the waves tossed very high, we knew
our ship was strong, but it really seemed so scary!

The brawny sailors heaved a great deep sigh, They had worked
so very hard all night, and seemed so tired and weary.

Then all of a sudden came a heavy storm surge,
the white caps and the waves had suddenly come aboard!

We were frightened as it seemed the sea began to merge
with our great ship, as it was tossed about-- and the ocean roared!

We feared for our very lives on that great ship,
and prayed fervently that The Almighty God would keep us in his
majestic grip.

To our relief the seas finally began to calm down---- and our
prayers were answered, as we were truly homeward bound.

Magical Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, N.C.

What a delightful time me and my husband enjoyed at the beautiful, magical annual Southern Christmas Show this year. There we were, after paying our $6 to park, and $8 to enter the
festivities, and were ready to indulge our senses in all the wonders to behold inside the Merchandise Mart.
Upon entering the magical scene, we immediately noticed the abundance of beautiful Frasier
Fir trees, all decked out in white snow, and of course Santa & the sleigh full of toys was right
there too! We were surrounded by sounds of Christmas music and laughter of happy shoppers, looking for that perfect gift for their loved ones. This is a 40-year tradition for some of us, and for others, it's a brand-new delight. This year they had "Christmas Tree Lane" with all types
of trees decorated for the festive look for the home, and also specific designers had special
rooms decorated with "seasonal flair" for mantels, windows, and doors in the home--just lovely
to behold, and one of my favorites at the show! They had many vendors from all over the world displaying their beautiful and very creative wares. I will mention some of that special group
for your enjoyment.
From Germany --Gaby Siems--Krefeld, Germany----She works at a boutique & finds inspiration to design beautiful pearl necklaces for women of all ages. Her designs explore a range of color themes and styles. She works with high-qualaity materials to help create a different character for each woman. She often creates earrings and rings to match the pearl necklaces.

From France -- Sandra Bregieras--Limoges, France---She capitalizes on the use of kaolin, a fine, white clay, used for making porcelain. She crafts jewelry in porcelain, ceramic and wood,
and has sold more than 15,000 pieces in one year since opening her business in 2004. She studied 5 years at an art college in Orleans, France, and her inspiration comes from traveling and observing family life. Her collection is absolutely beautiful (& expensive)!

From Russia--- Natalia Lebedeva - Voronezh, Russia -- She is a doll designer and manufacturer in Russia, where dolls are regarded as very mystical. They are used as amulets for attracting good fortune or offering protection from evil spirits. She creates large dolls, as well as smaller
souvenir toys. She sells more than 300 per year, and enjoys her creative work immensely.

There are many other countries listed in the show, but suffice it to say, you can find something for everyone on your list at this fantastic show! We also enjoyed all the free samples of fudge,
candied nuts, Christmas wine, English Pudding, and a great assortment of seasonal dips and stylish crackers, and well as spiced jelly with bread wedges. This show certainly puts you in
the Christmas spirit, and all the beautiful music just added more enjoyment to this special
day at the Southern Christmas Show. Don't miss out next year, everyone can use a little
"magic" in their lives these days!

Blue Angels Air Show Spectacular!! WOW

The weather was absolutely perfect, sunny, bright and a gentle nice breeze, just often enough to
create the superb atmosphere for the fantastic and outstanding "Blue Angels" to perform their
exciting precision flying-- to give delight to the thousands packed on Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
On this particular Saturday morning in November, -- there we were, along with our son and his beautiful wife, who happen to live at Jacksonville Beach, as well, & our sweet "Grand"- Mary, and her friend
from Ponce Inlet, lively Rebecca --were packed in with the other thousands, elbow to elbow, to see
this beautiful, sky spectacular performed by those famous top-gun pilots chosen to fly with the Blue Angels Precision Team. We had our chairs staked out in our favorite beach spot; and were excitedly watching the sky for the first group to
appear. Soon we looked up in the sky, and the huge plane had dropped about a dozen paratroopers, floating along
with their beautiful silk parachutes, and carrying American flags---so lovely to see them come down casually and land perfectly on the beach! The Air Show was finally underway, and the
thrills were coming on fast! Our very favorite was those fantastic jets, flown by the top guys
who had become "Blue Angels"--in a mix of formation flying, "wing-tip to wing-tip", as well as solo routines.
We were having the time of our lives, and I excitedly shouted, "Here they come", and had
both hands extended high in the air waving wildly at the pilots--& they tipped their wings
for us! They were flying right over our heads, and the sound was just tremendous. Some folks
were holding their hands over their ears to muffle the loud sounds of the jet engines. One of
my favorite routines was when the jets were flying straight toward each other, and just before
they could have crashed, each moved over slightly--Wow--talk about the adrenaline rush, we
certainly had it! They also had planes doing sky-writing, drawing huge hearts in the sky, and
so many routines to boggle the mind--that I actually lost count! The show lasted from 10 A.M
until 4 P.M., and they had many outstanding maneuvers to please the huge thousands, packed
on Jacksonville Beach. Uniformed policemen were roaming about to keep order in the mixed crowd. About 1 P.M., we had become hungry and thirsty, so we made our way
through the packed crowd to the food tents, getting our "chicken-on-a-stick and drinks" to satisfy our appetite, and finally made a stop at the huge parking lot filled with tons of port-a-johns to take care of the natural bodily functions of the folks. Wow--what a thrilling day to be
entertained by those fabulous Blue Angels exciting pilots!
I learned that the Demonstration
Sites are selected to support the objectives of the Military, and the interests of the armed
services with safety as the primary consideration. Most of the routines were performed over
the Ocean-- but very near the beach. These performances greatly assist the recruiting and
retention goals of the armed services and enhance the "spirit of the corps" among uniformed
men and women, as well as demonstrate the outstanding professional skills and capabilities
of the armed forces to the American public and U.S. Allies.
The renowned delta formation is complete with six jets performing maneuvers, as a whole
in formation. Since its inception in 1946, the team has flown for over 393 million fans, plus
even more as time marches on. The Blue Angels, the U.S. Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron
(USNFDS) certainly put on quite a show to multi- thousands packed on the sunny beach on
this beautiful Saturday. If you are ever in an area where the next Blue Angels Spectacular is planning to perform their precision flying--- please do not miss it, be sure and attend, as the thrill and adrenaline rush is waiting! Hats off to those fantastic Blue Angels!!! WOW!!!

The Summer-Day I Almost Drowned!!

It was a beautiful "blue-sky carefree day", with the sun shining so bright, you had to wear your sunglasses, and the kind of day when you can "just see forever" in the beautiful sunshine! My husband and I, who are both good swimmers, and have lived around water all our lives, had decided to join in the festivities at the Broad River, as they were having the annual birthday party for the beautiful "Greenway" there, and the annual Ducky Regatta!! You know you buy a neat yellow ducky with your number on it, for a certain price, and then they set sail all the cute ducks, and have a point where they are retrieved to see who is the winner!! You do get a nice cash sum for the top prize, and all the other funds are given to keep the "Greenway" looked so
natural and inviting to all those folks who just love nature, and want to be "up close and personal" at the river-scene, with all those picnic tables, nature trails, and tons of hardwood trees galore! We have been members of the Greenway since it began many years ago, and love the programs they present there, even the "Ghost Walks" Country Music at the Old Cabin there, and the marathon races they have sponsored, as well as the annual birthday party, with
the tubing down the river, and they send the bus to pick you up way on down the river. This
year, there were "loads of folks" planning to go tubing down the lazy winding river, and enjoy all the beauty of the river, and along the riverbanks as well--the flowers, huge green trees, and the wildlife you can view along the way as well. We were among that crowd, and were so excited to get our big tubes and head on out to jump in the cool river water and begin our trip!
At first, we were in the midst of several tubing couples, and children, and as the water began to flow a bit faster, we were able to head on out of the crowd, and enjoying ourselves immensely all the while. It was just the perfect day for tubing, and afterward, they were serving a huge BBQ lunch to all the crowd, along with cake and ice cream for dessert, so we had lots of treats to look forward to after the tubing had ended!
We were so relaxed, slowly making our way down the winding, rushing waters, and I even
went on ahead of my husband for awhile, both of us singing those old songs, (you know, "cruising down the river, on a Sunday afternoon,etc. with one you love, the sun above", and we had passed the big crowd on their tubes by this time, so we could sing as loud as we wanted to!
All of a sudden, as I had begun to float backwards--not really looking where I was going, I
heard my husband yell, "Look Out", and just at that moment my tube with me in in went
crashing and tumbling over a small waterfall---needless to say I was under the water with
my hand still holding on to the tube, and I felt myself going down, down, way down into this
huge deep hole in the river, and I kept holding my breath, waiting to go back up to the top--
but I keep going deeper in the hole! I remembered what my Uncle had told me years ago,
about learning to swim, as he said someday I might be caught in a hole in the river and would have to swim out--or drown!! All of a sudden--I threw my tube out of my way, and began
swimming as hard and as fast as I could, as I knew I could not hold my breath much longer,
and if I opened my mouth--water would begin coming into my lungs and I would drown! I began praying that the Heavenly Father would give me more breath, so I could make it back up to the top of the water, and get fresh air, and be able to live, and not drown in the river!
Finally, I popped out of the water, gasping for air, and so happy to have made it without
losing my life down in the big hole there in the middle of the river at those falls! My husband
came rushing over to me, saw my hair dripping wet, and me still taking in big gusts of air to
replenish my depleted lungs, and he said, "I thought sure you had drowned, and I was going to
call for search parties to find you"!! I was so happy to be breathing fresh air, and talking to my
husband, and know that I could finish the tubing down to the buses, that I just absolutely shed a few tears of sheer joy to be alive!! I tried to smooth out my hair just a bit with my fingers, and
then we continued on down the river for the final portion of the tubing, and you can be sure,
I keep my face turned to see what was ahead of me on the rest of the lazy tubing down that
big river! When we finally got to the parking lot for the buses--several folks wanted to know
how I got my hair so wet---and I shared my story with them, about how I swam like crazy to get out of that swirling hole in the river near those waterfalls!
I was a lucky person to be able to swim out of that huge hole, and I do believe God gave me
some extra breaths, so I could make it, as my husband said I was "under the water so long", he thought I had drowned already, and he couldn't find me! Just remember, if you are ever caught in a predicament like that---throw your tube as fast as you can, and swim as if your life depended on it---and you'll come out alive and so very thankful!!
We ended up having a great time at the BBQ Picnic, and I was delighted to share my story
with others at our table about that "hair-raising experience in the mighty Broad River!"

The morale of this story is: "Keep up your swimming skills" as you never know when they may be needed!! You can save your life, or perhaps another as well!!

Previous Blog,Down by Riverside, new comments added!

Referring to a previous blog in September, "Down By the Riverside", several folks
specifically wanted to know where my husband was, during the episode when my
young son was missing, & I thought he had fallen into the Broad River, and my Dad
jumped in to find him with all his clothes on,etc. ---- Well, in clarification of my
sweet husband's whereabouts during that time--he was on a trip to Boston, actually
a 4 week school, learning to be the "Computer Expert" as he was in charge of
a complete installation of a very important computer system at Fiber Industries.
That was the time he developed a great desire to learn everything there was to
know about the computer process control systems, as our livelihood depended
on it, and we had four children to raise! He did in fact, become the Lead Engineer
and held that position for many years, keeping up with all the changes coming down
the pike in the fast paced computer industry revolution of the times!
In fact, there was another "hair-raising incident" that happened while he was away
attending the computer training---he was called home in the middle of the night, as I
was sent to the Med Center at 3 A.M. after waking up in a huge pile of blood(hemoraging
terribly from the womb), & called my Mom & Dad immediately to come & stay with our
four children, as I needed a Doctor to stop the bleeding pronto, or I was going to die!
My Mom, called our friend (who was a funeral director nearby, who had an ambulance) to
come after me for transport to the hospital! He came promptly, had extra towels for me
to lay on for the 25 minute ride to the hospital, propped my feet straight up, & my head slanted
downward, and called the hospital to inform them of my excessive bleeding, and prepare
a Dr. to take care of me promptly on my arrival. I learned later that my Mother called our Pastor, and my husband in Boston, as they thought I would never pull through, due to the extreme loss of blood! My husband flew to my bedside, holding my hand, & the Pastor was praying over me, as the Doctor had to pack the womb for the 2nd time, as the bleeding came thru the first packing, & I could feel my entire body draining, but I did not pass out! I remember feeling "very weak & feeble, & it was difficult to speak", but I knew exactly what was happening to me. My Pastor was praying for me and the Dr. to do the right things to stop the bleeding, and the Gracious Heavenly Father did answer our prayers, and I am happy to say by the next morning, I was ready for some type breakfast, and to regain my strength! Wow--that an experience, my entire life had flashed before my eyes, as I had thought the "end of life on earth had come", but after reflecting on it all, I am sure Our Heavenly Father had further plans for my life, as I had four children to raise and a dear husband to take care of as well!
I am a firm believer that "Prayer Changes Things"!
Wow---Isn't Life Grand!! Treasure each moment as you never know when disaster might strike, just when you least expect it--Be Prepared!!

Those beautiful "Majestic Smoky Mountains"---Splendid!!

What a beautiful place for a relaxing retreat, "On top of those Smoky Mountains" in North Carolina and Tennessee---what a treat, especially in the autumn, when the colors are at their peak! We had a splendid trip and enjoyed ourselves immensely, taking in the inspiring beauty of those precious and awesome mountain peaks, & even ventured over to Cades Cove, the delightful place where deer, elk, wild turkeys, & occasionally a red fox appears to the delight of visitors to that historic community, a grand portion of the National Park System in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. We especially loved seeing the old Grist Mill with the water wheel turning the wheel, grinding the corn into corn-meal, & talking to the old mountain man in charge of it.
We also loved visiting the old homeplace of "Famous Aunt Rebecca", who had owned 600 acres in this beautiful area, she never married, but helped her brother raise 9 children, & could spin yarn, sew like a champion, cook the meals, work on the farm, and lived to a ripe old age. She was quite the home-maker, even had the molasses mill nearby, and could work as hard as any man in the area! Those early settlers worked endlessly--making a living in those mountains and valleys! We loved the old churches in Cades Cove too--the Baptist and the Methodist, as
the pioneers were God-fearing folks, and raised their children according to the rules of The Bible. To our delight, a couple from "Booger Holler" were there at the cabin playing and singing away, entertaining all the visitors on this special Sunday afternoon. It just seemed we had taken a step "back in time" to be there in this historic Cades Cove, enjoying the beauty of it all!
We also enjoyed the beautiful Craft Show held at the Convention Center in Gatlinburg, and they had Tim Wilson's Blue-Grass Band performing at intervals during the show--was great!
I was lucky enough to find some neat Christmas gifts at the Craft Show--so delightful! The vendors, (Craftsmen) were busily working on more gifts throughout the show, and I especially loved the talent of the wood-carver, making a delightful wolf out of a log--(this one was
"howling at the moon" ), and I'm sure some buyer will be delighted with that purchase!
We also enjoyed a Breakfast with the Blackwood Gospel Singers, and a grand and colorful musical revue at the Black Bear Jamboree Theatre--exciting! The entire area of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville were ablaze with fall decorations, pumpkins galore, shocks of corn tied with orange & black ribbons, & adorned with scare-crows, entire covered wagons loaded with fall pumpkins, flowers, & all types of scare-crow creatures, & buttons & bows everywhere you turned--fall splendor in the mountains, as well as the gold, red, orange hues lighting up all the peaks and valleys of those splendid Smokies!! If you need a "change of scenery, and some great inspiration galore--why not take a trip to the delightful, colorful "Smoky Mountains"--You will be glad you did!!

"In The Middle of the Night"---

I have truly had a real and honest "vision" --- right beside me in our comfy upstairs bedroom,
and it was very real and true, and I can say it is the honest truth and place my right hand on the Bible, just as if I were in the Court-Room, swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth, and
nothing but the truth, so help me God.

(Yes, I have been there and done that before in the court-room, as a character witness
for a dear friend); as well as performed jury duty many times, when called on by my local county officials).

I had been very concerned about my son lately, and actually prayed sincerely and fervently for a "sign from God" that my precious son, who was having troublesome heart problems,
would indeed be just fine, and get through all the heart pain without a severe tragedy, or an
attack that would hospitalize him. Just a few moments past midnight recently," all of a sudden
I woke up from a dream as if someone had just touched me," (as I had been dreaming of my son with the serious heart pains, and was so concerned about his future good health, & we had just been walking & talking about his heart problems and his future). When I opened my eyes, there standing right beside my bed was the most beautiful "angel, adorned with bright twinkling stars
from head to toe,& she was smiling sweetly & nodded her head just slightly--- and her hand was reaching out to me!" I immediately felt completely filled with total peace as I realized this was the sign that my son was going to be just fine, and I reached out to
touch the angel, and thank her for the good re-assuring news and glorious-- heavenly visit and hold her hand, and at that very moment, as I reached to touch her---she vanished, no where to be seen! I jumped out of
bed, ran to get my Bible Commentary to look up "visions", and how they were described, as
I knew my experience and what I had seen was VERY REAL AND TOUCHED ME TO THE
VERY CORE!! As I read the descriptions of "visions"--the commentary said they are real,
and also very rare, but down through the ages, at certain times and places, and for various
reasons, God does allow "visions or messages to be conveyed through a vision to selected individuals". It went on to explain different visions recorded in the Bible, which was so
very re-assuring, (and which I had studied previously in various Biblical classes in college.)
I was just rejoicing that I had that true enlightening experience, and felt so close to God, that
He had allowed the message to be conveyed to me through one of his chosen angels to assure
me that my son would be just fine! What a blessing----now I was totally happy to share this
grand news with my son & close family & other friends as well. They also believe that my
"vision" was very real, and my son is in fact just fine, and all the heart problems vanished.


So, just remember to be extra careful when you ask God for a "sign",
about any particular situation you are concerned about----as in the
middle of the night------"You may just be visited by a beautiful angel"!

3:10 to Yuma-----Great Movie!

Well, I do not usually write about movies as a popular subject, ----but I did thoroughly enjoy going to see
this outstanding western epic called "3:10 to Yuma"--surprisingly well put together, with lots of action scenes, bloody
fighting, some really fancy sharp-shooting, & grand horses & riders as well. The outstanding
scenery is worth the price of the movie ticket, just reminded me so much of the grand and
beautiful--- natural nature scenes in the old western part of our great country! Some of the western
cowboys were superb in their star roles, and their expressions of surprise, horror, grief, and
excitement and happiness were outstanding in portrayal of emotions involved! It is an action-packed adventure from start to finish, --& some scenes even had me biting my fingernails, until
the plot of excitement had played its course! If you enjoy a really good western story, and are
not afraid of seeing lots of "blood-spilled scenes",shootings along the way; and a long pronged fork used as a weapon in
a terrible fight, plus lots of "fist-slinging, shovel slinging, boot-kicking, horse-riding(gang-style),
and even a train "huffing & puffing into town", as well, then just saunter on down to your local
Cinema, or ride your beautiful horse down there, tie him up to the hitching post, wipe off your
boots, take off your cowboy hat, & make your way to your favorite seat in the cozy theater.
The western entertainment is waiting -------"Bang-Bang"----Ah-h-h-No--this is not the end!!!
Well, I would love to tell you more about the story on the big silver screen---but then your
anticipation needs to be top-speed, and then you will enjoy the entire movie more---the suspense is good for you!!! An emotional run-away-------& surprise ending too!!

"Going to the exciting Fair"-------

It was a beautiful, cool evening as we arrived at the fabulous "Cleveland County Fair"--watching
all the little kids just "bug-eyed" on all the various roller-coasters, swings, merry-go-round,etc.. & most of them were eating "candy apples or cotton candy", & holding on to Mama's hand! We
loved the smells of the philly-cheese steaks sizzling' with onions,peppers,BBQ with all the trimmings, plus those tasty Italian Sausages with the delicious peppers & onions, & long lines of folks just waiting to dig in! Others were devouring the "vinegar-fries", or huge elephant ear cakes with powdered sugar topping! We settled for popcorn--given out free in the exhibit hall,
(chuckle) where
we loved all the beautiful displays, my favorite was the "Giant Pumpkin" that won the lst. prize,
it could barely fit in a huge oversize wheel-barrow!! My next favorite was the flower arrangements by the various Garden Clubs in the county---the top winner was beautiful and
I would have certainly picked that one myself, if I had been lucky enough to be one of the judges! We made our way thru all the crowd down to the Giant Ferris Wheel, called the "Dutch Wheel--over 220 feet high, and hopped on after giving our 4 tickets each to the agent! Just after being seated on this huge giant wheel, it spun around & stopped on tip-top, first thing, with our seat rocking a bit--what a view--we could see all over the place & almost certainly to the top of Kings Mountain--just lovely, & of course we shared a sweet kiss, as always, on top of the
world!! They let us ride for a long time, we both loved it, & my husband said--When will they
let us off, & I said "Who cares, this is really fun"!! Then, off to the Wild West Show--The Great
American Frontier, starring Buffalo Bill, (or at least he looked like him, & his show was like his--
with the trick horse riders, the dancing horses, the covered wagon--making the fast rounds in
the ring area, as well as other fantastic western riding and music for the festive occasion! For a few moments, --- I thought I was back in Cody, Wyoming---seeing the western shows come alive!! They even had a gun-fight, and the shotgun was so loud--I jumped back!! Wow--great
fun! We also enjoyed the beautiful horses, sheep, goats, chickens, and large hog with her babies
in the animal kingdom at the fair! We saw one guy trying to hard to swing the mallat & ring the bell at top, he almost did it 3 times, but lacked the gong by 1/4 inch--Ugh! We saw folks trying
to "dunk the robber", & they did often, shooters at balloons to win the big BEAR, throwing
darts for prizes, & even a fishing booth for prizes,etc. What a grand time at the fair, we didn't
stop to play Bingo this trip, but I'm sure I would have won a prize if I had, as I was feeling very
lucky(chuckle)! We did see lots of our friends & neighbors at the fair, & enjoyed catching up on
their "news", as well as meeting new friends there! I asked a friend of mine if he had been to
the great Cleveland County Fair yet---& he said, "I haven't been in 14 years, Oh-h-h, what fun
he has missed!! If you are in town anytime soon---be sure to have some "real fun" at the fair!
"Yee-Haw--Giddy-Up-Go!! You will be glad you did, and I'm sure you will love the "Dutch Wheel" or the "Screamer" or "Wild Thing" --- it moves you!!

Mark Houser's Pinning Ceremony & Banquet--Lovely!

The twilight welcome to all those attending the fabulous Pinning Ceremony and Banquet
at Gardner-Webb University was an outstanding occasion to say the least! When we
arrived at the Dover Building, red tents with colorful red & black-speckled balloons, and
beautiful music, as well as a delightful assortment of hors'doeuvres were available for
the large group, as well as white grape-spirited punch in chef's choice crystal cups. The
name tags were given out, as we were welcomed to the evening's festivities. Also, a
spirited visitor was there to greet everyone, along with her escort, "Joan Rivers"--impersonated by Sharon Webb-- with her beautiful blonde wig, heavy makeup, snazzy dress, & fur, and loaded with tons of jewelry and oversize sunglasses! They were doing a video of Joan & her contacts, & she took an interest in my wedding rings, & wanted to see them "up close"for scrutiny!
Then we were escorted inside to the Lindsay Courtyard, which was just beautiful with
all the green trees, asssorted mums and variety of other flowers & ferns, interspersed among the black lamp-posts throughout the garden. A large black & white canopy was overhead
(the parachutes spread out in billowing rolls was quite elegant) The loaded colorful buffet tables were covered in white linens & held large colorful flower arrangements to complement the
exotic food which was displayed eloquently. The round tables were also covered in white linens and centered with mirrored displays of silver- stars, and silver star garland, interspersed with white candles in crystal vases. We were so happy and proud of Mark, as this is his Senior year, and the happy seniors were being honored at this special event, filled with excitement, music,
and exceptional speakers, including Dr. Paula Qualls, who delivered an inspiring address to the
attendees. Outstanding choral tributes were also rendered by talented students, and the
video of the seniors was just fantastic and very enjoyable. When the dinner was served, we
enjoyed a delightful meal of chicken parmasean, tossed salad, creamed potatoes, French green beans, veggie medley, yeast roll, iced tea or coffee, and strawberry cheese cake for dessert.
What a true "feast for the palate"---such a delightful evening! We loved the part where we were able to do the "pinning" for Mark---such an honor to reach Senior status and think about
His Graduation from the University, and his future plans for his career as well. Sure hope our photos turn out great, as the evening was a totally delightful adventure!

Exciting Birthday Fun at "The Red Robin",Charlotte

Wow--it was BIG FUN celebrating our son, Bruce's special birthday, with the family that could
be there, and see the "Red Robin in Costume" at the very popular restaurant----dancing, struttin' around the restaurant, singing the famous & updated
"Happy Birthday" Song with the wait-staff--a delightful party indeed! They even give out tons
of balloons to add to the festive occasion, and bring you a delicious, tasty Ice Cream Sunday with
whipped cream galore, and a big-red cherry on top for dessert!! Lots of folks were in the "rocking place" with their friends having a glorious time as well, celebrating their "special day of birth"--You know, "Your Own Triumphant Entry into our glorious world"!!! The snazzy & cute
"Red Robin" can dance like you see on Broadway--and also gives out "hi-fives", and hugs too!
If we were giving out trophy's for the top dancer--The "Rockin'Red Robin" would surely win the coveted and glorious
top prize! So--if you want delicious food, heart-warming BBQ, southern style, or gourmet hamburgers on a huge bed of greens, among other delights for the palate--just guide your
shiny Mercedes, or BMW, or Hummer, or whatever (Harley--the big one) on over to the
fun place called "The Red Robin"---You will be glad you did,-- and your taste buds will thank-you
over & over!! Actually, my plate was "so filled to the brim"--(I brought the rest home for another fun meal!!) "You truly haven't lived"-- until you have experienced the "Rockin' Red Robin"!!
So go ahead---put it on your "To Do" list for a future fun time!

My Published Poetry ---- "THE SUNSET"

Some of you 70+ folks out there reading my exciting blogs(chuckle)-- may not know that I am an
actual published poet--- in the book called "Twilight Musings" published by International Library of Poetry, 2005 Edition (compilation of poetry)--so here's a copy of my poem:

THE SUNSET

How lovely are the last rays of the beautiful sun,

Sinking slowly in the evening haze,

Thanking God so much for the great fun,

and friends going with me through the maze!

The colors blend in such a lively glow,

I feel the blessing of life's special magic taper,

and forever I will always know

God's plans are definitely outlined with his divine papers.

I think that I will never cease to cherish and adore

the sunset colors, so divine and galore,

for all to behold and keep in our hearts forevermore!

P.S. I did receive "Honorable Mention" for my poetry contribution, & was invited to read it
at the last "gathering" in Las Vegas for The International Society of Poets, but had to decline
the invitation due to a previous commitment. It was really nice to be asked,-- and perhaps
later in the future, as I continue to write poetry, (when I feel the true inspiration-)-perhaps
there will be a future invitation to share! I truly enjoy my membership in The International Society of Poets---lots of opportunity there to express your thoughts. So if you desire to pursue
"your expression of deep thoughts through poetry"---just go ahead and write it down, and others will be delighted to read! Inspiration is truly the "spice of life"!!

Painting a Mural in Atlanta,GA. & other exciting events...

Some of you may not realize that I, among other talents, am also a "painter of murals",etc.;that is--- when I was asked to do some "volunteer artist work with my daughter's group of friends" in that exciting city of Atlanta, Georgia! Suffice it to say that we were definitely working on a beautiful "Treasures & Fish of the Tropical Ocean" mural--each person was given paints & brushes with which to work their colorful magic for the eye of the beholder in future viewing of this "magnificient work of artistry"---& the excitement & display of exotic colors began in earnest early this past Saturday morning! We donned the "artist cover-up" to save our clothes during the painting exhibition, --and worked very steadily and keenly--trying to convey our portion of beauty in the fabulous ocean--mural with exotic fish, flowers, reef,etc.--actually I painted two artistic "sea horses" dancing in the magical ocean, along with two beautiful
gold & black striped salt-water beauties--flirting with the big fish swimming around in
the exotic scenes--all around me were other "artists" adding their colorful fish and flowers,coral, & BIG Fish to the wonders of nature! So, if you are ever inclined to visit the "Atlantic Shelter
(downtown mission)--you may just be able to view this fantastic mural (chuckle); as it was a thrill to be asked to help out in this way!
Next---off to the grand "soccer game", and Eli was the star player--(among the 6 & 7 year old young boys) and our grand-son too! He was so fast on the field, running to do his part to help his team win--"a streak of lightning" is the best portrayal--bouncing the ball off his head, etc. and using his feet in the nick of time to pound the ball toward the goal! Wow, what a fun time!
Those little guys were very aggressive, and wasted no time in "doing their best" to bring a win for their great team! Congrats to Eli, and his brave, fast team in Atlanta!!
After the big game--we were off to the Swim Meet Competition, where our beautiful grand-daughter, Hannah was the STAR SWIMMER for her Y-team, in competition with other
Y-teams from surrounding areas! What a thrill to see her in top form, diving in the
lovely blue water, streaking down her lane--making the fastest time possible! Her team members were doing their best as well, speeding along with fast & deep strokes to shorten the swim time in their lanes--such an exciting sport event! All the leaders were running along the pool--cheering on their swimmers--lots of excited fans screaming for their favorites--a lot of cheering going on! I just loved seeing those little tykes (5 yrs. & up) doing their swims,
and it was amazing how they could glide along so quickly! Our grand-daughter was so lovely, and had really practiced the swimming for this big event--she looked fabulous in her black bathing suit with "Buckhead Barracuda's" imprinted on the side!! Her team came out just
grand, & the girls were just bubbling over with excitement--a BIG TIME at the Y.M.C.A. & what fabulous exercise for those "up & coming swimmers"! Here's a big "Hoo-Ray" for the best
of the team--"Beautiful Hannah"---keep on swimming!! We were just delighted to be a
part of that exciting event!! Wow--what a fun weekend in Atlanta--& we also got to see
Hannah & Eli in a beautiful performance at The Buckhead Church, where they sang and danced as part of the beautiful program for Sunday Services! Then off to "The Grand Panini" Restaurant, for our delicious treats before returning to "home sweet home"! If you need
a beautiful side-trip--"Why not try Atlanta--such an exciting, fun and great city!!"

Week-end Beach Fun--Florida Style!!

Late Thurday we headed out for Ponce Inlet, Florida--where our daughter lives in the Penthouse right on the beach! Our Grand-daughter, Mary was scheduled for a running "meet"
competition this weekend, & we wanted to share in that excitement!! We decided to stop by the
jewel of Georgia, "Jecklle Island" for a little scrumptious seafood, & after paying our $3 bucks to
enter the beautiful island, decided to try the famous "Rah Bar" (best of island seafood there! )It
was an outdoor type restaurant right on the water, and had such a grand arrangement of tables & chairs filled with hungry customers, including us! We finally decided on the grand "island sampler" which included crab-legs, shrimp, crab cake,craw-daddies, corn-on-cob, kabalsa sausage, red boiled
potatoes with fantastic seasonings--Wow-we were thrilled with that choice--the handsome waiter brought the food out on this huge tray with 6 sauces to accompany the treats! We indulged ourselves to say the least! Seated at tables all around us were some "interesting characters, like "Indiana Jones(with the hat) plus tatooes",(chuckle) with his girl-friend, who
giggled her way thru the dinner; & to our left 6 fishermen who had been roasted a deep red, while catching their marlin, or whitefish--(could see where their sun-glasses had been perched
on their faces;) and to the side of us, an elderly couple dressed all in white to match their hair,
& a young couple that must have been there on their "honey-moon", as they were more interested in hugging & kissing, than eating their dinner! Ahh-hh the joys of outdoor dining,
seeing the pelicans swoop down to the water for their special dinners, and other fish just
"jumping up" out of the water for pure joy! Watching the boats plying the waters, going to
their special cottages on the island--such relaxing atmosphere, watching the sun sink slowly
in the west, as the romantic lights around the deck began to blink on--ah-h-h, just lovely!
Then on down I-95 to the famous Ponce Inlet, and our daughter surprised us with a lovely
arrangement of roses & mixed summer flowers, in a beautiful crystal vase with real coins in
the bottom(50 golden to honor our Anniversary)!! Pam and her husband had planned a big
surprise celebration at a restaurant in downtown Daytona Beach--but wouldn't tell us where
the dinner was, until we drove up in the parking lot at THE CHART HOUSE, there at the waterfront, with yachts all around--Wow,(this was our actual anniversary date; & there were golden Anniversary balloons at our
table, & the menu had imprinted at top "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary to Peggy and
Wayne Houser"--talk about surprised--we really were!! Such delectable treats there at the
famous restaurant, and our waiter was absolute "tops",-- we ordered the Chart House famous "mixed grill"
which was totally mouth-watering, included shrimp, crab-cake, & salmon steak with trimmings,
and accompanied with champagne--Wow, & dessert was chocolate cake with ice cream & candles burning brightly on top!! --What a fun night on the town!! Seated around us were those beautiful rich & famous folks--(pulled up in their yachts, showing off their tans with their fancy duds on, & smiling at us,) realizing we were the "anniversary couple"! The restaurant was really "posh", & the beautiful chandelier in the center must have weighed a ton, as it glowed & shimmered with all the facets shining brightly, & cast a magical glow all around the beautiful dining area! As we were finally leaving the lovely restaurant with appetites satisfied to the hilt--
the waiter presented us with beautiful roses! What a grand night to remember, as our daughter
Pam was snapping our photos rapidly, for keepsakes!
On Saturday A.M. Pam had planned an excursion with us on the new water-taxi service, going from Inlet Harbour,( near the Ponce light-house,) over to New Smyrna Beach--for a shopping trip there,
and see the sights over there! Such a special treat, seeing the beautiful shops on Main, sampling the fudge at the candy shoppe, trying on jewelry,etc. at the famous shoppes, and rocking in the
big white rockers at the Riverside Hotel beside The "Grille"--waiting to catch our water-taxi to
cross back over to Ponce Inlet--a beautiful boat ride, enjoying the scenic views of all those
waterfront mansions and fancy hotels along the way--not to mention all the different characters getting on & off the water-taxi in different stops along the way(many bringin their bikes on board). We enjoyed walking on the beautiful beach at Ponce Inlet, (the sea turtles do their nesting there to lay their eggs, & make their way back to the ocean)& swimming in the pool at
the Condo(penthouse)! We also were able to attend church at First Baptist of Daytona Beach,
& hear The Rev. Timm Mann speak (he's friends with our Pastor as well); so it was a treat
to be there in that beautiful sanctuary, and hear the evangelistic sermon! On Sunday P.M.
we headed north to see our son at Jacksonville Beach, and we took them out to the famous
Moe's Kitchen for dinner (their BBQ is grand, & their Brunswick Stew with corn-bread is so
tasty, you ask for more!!) It is well-known for good Southern Treats (soul food), and comforts
your very soul!! Our waitress was "in the family way", but never missed a beat in waiting on us
--excellent service with a great big smile!! We also loved our walk on Jacksonville Beach, so
many folks out sunning, swimming, picking up shells, & all that jazzy beach stuff--ah-h-h-h the
treats of Florida seem never-ending!!

Ah-h-h "The Wonders of the Land Down Under-Australia!

Just thinking about the wonderful vacation we experienced a few years ago to that fabulous
land "down under"--exciting Australia--& wanted to share some of the top adventures there! We had saved our frequent flyer miles until we had enough to receive 2 round-trip free tickets to
the Queensland Area, (& we exchanged our "Resort Condo Int." for a 5-Star Hotel there in Brisbane, Australia. ) Such an exciting time of our lives--they treated us like royalty, and the
land & the "Aussies" are just so interesting & beautiful!! We flew on Delta Airlines to Los Angeles, then boarded Air New Zealand (they moved us free up to First Class-what a thrill!!), I
think the clerk just "liked our looks"(chuckle) & did that out of the goodness of her heart!! It was a very long flight, & we were up in the air for eons it seemed--showed movies, served meals
3 times, gave us all the "royalty treatment"! We stopped first in Auckland, New Zealand--such
an outstanding, truly beautiful land--so clean & green--nature at it's best!! We took a cruise
for a day out of Auckland Harbor--was fabulous, & they served us dinner on the cruise--met a
lady that makes "jewelry" & sells it to shops in Auckland,& other very interesting folks! The
Captain let us steer the ship for a bit--a big thrill too! Then the next day we flew on over to
Brisbane, Australia--such a busy, modern city, & our hotel was right on the beach, 80 stories
high, & had all the amenities you can imagine--a luxury hotel in every way--Wow--we just
wanted to "pinch ourselves to make sure it was real"--& was so exciting to finally be in the
great land "down under"! We did a great amount of sight-seeing, sunning on their fabulous
beaches, riding bikes. We even saw a" Wedding right on the beach" at sunset one evening, as we
were having dinner in this beautiful restaurant--The couple, 2 witnesses & the Minister, who
had just pronounced the pair as "Just Married"(Groom-very elderly,Bride-very young)--she
surely married him for his $$(chuckle, was not his looks-(chuckle). He was able to carry her a couple feet, (almost dropped her) & then she said let's run down to the ocean, so off she ran--pulled
off her shoes, jumped a small fence to the water, & he was barely making his way slowly down
to the water after her--they were both laughing & she was in the water,& he came to meet her,
kissing & hugging her, as their photographer snapped away for the Wedding photos!! It was delightful to see all this & we got a few photos for keepsakes too! Then, after the first week
in Aussie-land, we wanted to make our way up to the famous "Whit-Sunday Islands" to take a
boat(Catamaran) out to the best part of The Exciting Great Barrier Reef, and the hotel manager advised us to take an overnight bus up to the Whit-Sundays(much more reasonable
than flying there)--so we did, my husband was able to sleep, but I was wide awake, as they
showed a fabulous movie on the bus on the way up there! The bus did make an unscheduled
stop on the way,(said someone had reported him for "crossing over the white-line 3 times, &
he was being re-placed by another driver,which irritated him to no end,& he said,"I'm not drunk"!) So, with the new driver, we finally arrived at the Whit-Sunday Island's port(this is
where most of the "celebrities" go out to their private island retreats,etc, & was highly recommended for our tour there. We boarded the large catamaran (boat), & the Captain welcomed us on board, saying it was about a 2 hr. ride out to the best part of the reef, & we
could snorkle up to our heart's content--taking in all the beauty while swimming along with
all the beautiful fish, & taking in the wonders of the famous Great Barrier Reef--so off we
were, "sailing in the breeze, taking in the beauty of those famous islands--even saw some movie
star's in all their "finery" getting off their large yachts for vacationing in the Whit-Sundays!!
It was a grand and glorious time of our lives. My husband & I had been enjoying sunning on the top deck of the Catamaran for most of the trip, when I became thirsty & hungry, & decided to
go down below for refreshments (when I entered the lower deck, & opened the door--I couldn't
believe my eyes(about 150 folks were there with their baggies being "sea-sick")--I closed the
door quickly,& ran to the stalls for the snacks, & then so thankful we had taken our "dramamine" to avoid such an ordeal! The Captain on the speaker said, "All you folks down there that are not feeling well just now--rest assured that will stop as soon as the boat docks
in about 30 minutes or so, so take heart"!! The Captain gave instructions about the free
snorkling gear, how to use it,etc. & we were finally docked, & ready for the "real fun time at
The Reef!! We jumped into the water with gleeful yells, & the fish were absolutely beautiful,
and swimming right there with us, the reef was so beautiful & colorful--it would be impossible
to put into words the absolute variety of colors & plants, & live organisims surrounding us in
that fabulous place. All of a sudden--my legs,feet & arms, & chest begin stinging badly--like
I had been stung with fire-ants or something; so I asked the guide about it--He said that I
was allergic to all the tremendous "algae in the water, & suggested that I take the glass submarine next to us, that could go up very close to the reef in many different places, & I
would quit "stinging" as soon as I sponged off--That was very true, so off I went to ride the
beautiful "glass sub"--so fabulous, & the beauty is just beyond description! Each time the
sub would return to the small port, I would run around & get in line again to see more of the
reef (did that for 4 trips--magnificient)!! I do declare that this was one of the thrilling times
of our lives--to actually be right there at "The Reef"--experience it up close & personal! In
the meantime, my husband was playing with the "big fish", feeding them, and having the
"snorkling time of his life"!! He said, he was almost "scared at the size of one huge fish" that
bumped him, as he was swimming slowly along the great reef! Such a fabulous place, so if you
ever get the chance to go "down-under"--do not miss it! It is most rewarding, and worth the
long-long ride on the plane from the States! Finally, it was time to leave that beautiful spot at
The Reef, & return to the port in Whit-Sundays Islands--such grand sights, such beautiful
memories! We had dinner before leaving that beautiful area--such delicious seafood, such
beautiful people, such a grand experience. One regret about Aussie-land, we did not have enough
time to go to the "out-back", just saw a great film about it, as well as the huge, mysterious
Ayer's Rock--so beautiful at sunset as it changes colors rapidly! (We did take a tour to their
mountainous areas, & visited a "Kangaroo Farm"--but the kangaroos were in "mating time",
and the Manager would not let us go in--said we might be attacked by one of the "Roos"--so
we were content to watch them through the fencing(chuckle). Sure hope we can return someday, & see more of that fabulous, beautiful land down under! We never met a stranger
there--Aussies are very friendly, laid back, & smile all the time it seems! If you ever get a
chance to visit there--You will have the "time of your life"!!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame--OH YES--FUN-FUN!!

Wow, on last Friday night, we watched the tough Crest Chargers beat their rival, Shelby Golden
Lions--Final Score was Crest- 14, Shelby- 07--Was a high ole' time out at that game!! There
were about 7,000 fans screaming, shouting, waving banners, & there we were right in the midst--what a lively crowd, and the cheer-leaders were in top form, doing their cute dances, cheers, & being tossed high in the air for the thrill of it!! The Crest Horse(in uniform) almost
stole the show from the cheer-leaders, as he could do every step of their fancy dance routines,
& was fantastic--he deserved a medal of some kind! Oh yes, & Coach Kirby was really on the
move--up & down the sidelines, giving those magical calls to keep his team on top! The very
last few minutes of the game was so tense, as Shelby was almost right at the goal line, but the
Charger defense was on top of their every move--thus Crest Won--Wow--great fun! Sorry you
missed the exciting game--everyone was into celebrating already in the parking lot, as we
made our way back to the Buick--Hip-Hip-Hooray--Let's hear it for those special Chargers!
(I was a cheerleader in High School for 4 years (Head Cheerleader for 2 yrs.) & loved every minute of that wonderful spirit and fun--just so fantastic--cheering on your team, & getting
the exciting crowd involved!! Hope the next game is just as exciting---until then--

Down by the River-Side,Broad River, Lake Houser Meadows

How beneficial to talk a walk down by the Main Broad River, just very near our home! I usually walk around the lake, but this morning I decided to walk on down to the beautiful river--which
I love as well, & holds so many dear & precious memories for me--my boyfriend(now my husband) actually kissed me for the first time in the middle of the Broad River, at a Sunday School Party, (I was just barely 12 yrs. old, & what a kiss that was--even my toes tingled!) Our
teachers at the party were my boyfriend's Aunt Ruby & Uncle Maurice, and they just smiled real
big as they watched us from the river-bank! I wonder now if they thought we were "young lovers" at that time---& as time marched on, we were destined to an exciting courtship & later
on, a beautiful marriage, (& four children as well)---
but it all began in the Broad River!! Also, there at the riverside--several years ago, our youngest daughter, Susie
married the love of her life- Kim Miller, in a beautiful outdoor Wedding at Lake Houser Meadows, on the Main Broad River,--so grand--& the
weather was just beautiful(had prayed for good weather for 3 months prior to the Wedding, along with all our friends praying as well--& the Good Lord was so gracious & kind to grant us
the perfect Wedding Day for Susie & Kim, for which we were so thankful & grateful!
They even rode away in the "carriage pulled by a feisty horse" to the big Reception held at our
son's big victorian home, about 1 1/2 miles from the Broad River--Wow--what a fabulous
Wedding--many of our friends said that was the most beautiful Wedding they had ever seen!
I still think of their Wedding Spot, by the river, as special Holy Ground, as Holy Matrimony
had taken place their, & as I close my eyes, I can just see those lovely scenes unfold--the
music so beautiful by the Harpist, & our son Garry, singing, Ava Maria--ah-h-h--such a
glorious day, such sweet photos & grand memories too! Oh yes, I learned to swim at this
special river, as my uncle told me there was this huge deep whirlpool next to the Bank--& I
had to learn to swim over it, or else someday I might get caught in the whirlpool & never be
able to get out--since it was so deep! Wow--I did learn to swim very quickly,-- as this was the
spot we always came to when I was a child(growin up) to have our family picnics,etc.
While meditating there, and just thanking God for our many blessings, realizing we are not
worthy of the many good things he has sent our way--I just felt so thankful, and just wanting
to praise God -- He is so good and kind and forgiving and forever faithful, true and strong!
Hallelujah--Praise Him forever & ever, as He loves each one of us so very much, and even
made us in His image. Well--I did get carried away just remembering all the blessings! It
is so refreshing to be able to enjoy and treasure some peace & quiet time down by the river,
it just gives me a "great attitude adjustment, renews my spirit, mind and body", and I begin
to feel "energized"!! Sure hope you have a river near you, or lake, or ocean---where you can
go to "meditate" and "re-charge your energy too"! Oh yes, another event happened long ago
down by the riverside--our 2nd son, Bruce, along with the rest of our family was playing
at our family picnic there, my Mom & Dad were there as well, & all of a sudden, we missed
little 3 yr. old Bruce--I screamed out, Daddy--did Bruce fall in the river?? Daddy jumped into the river with all his clothes on to find him, & at that moment, little Bruce came running around
the front of Daddy's ole' green Ford Truck, & said, "Here I am, Mama"!! Wow--such a big
relief as tears streamed down my face, as I was pregnant with my 3rd child at the time, and
my "hormones" were doing double duty plus!! We just hugged him and were so thankful, &
then left earlier than we had planned to get Daddy some dry clothes! Ah-h-h, I love that
Broad River--so beautiful and peaceful, just keeps on rolling along--but today, due to the
big drought we're having--96 deg. for weeks on end--the water was so low, & lots of big rocks
were poking their heads above the rolling river--(reminded me of little elves, all shapes & sizes),
and I never remember seeing the water that low in my entire life--so please pray for rain, as
this drought needs to end soon! It would be difficult to go "tubing down the Broad River with
the water level so low, & finding your way through all those rocks would be a bit difficult--Let's
just keep on praying for "Rain---maybe do the Indian Rain Dance"!! One of my great Aunts--who is deceased now, but in her old age, she had dark black hair & always laughed and said
that she thought we had an Indian in our family--due to her black hair! She was a precious
jewel in our family, & she could tell the most fascinating stories--but I'll get to that in a later
post! In the meantime--please do the "Indian Dance for Rain" if you know how, and just
keep[ "praying for those precious raindrops to begin" -- & in full force. Then some bright,
sunny day, we can just go "tubing down the river on a Sunday afternoon" & have someone
pick us up at the beautiful "Broad River Greenway"!!

Here it is already late Wednesday night, just returned from a glorious "church choir practice", and our Director was in high form tonight--we were singing all the "Praise" songs, with a beat!

Hope our program Sunday does sound better than we did tonight--we'll see! Some of our top

sopranos were missing, due to trips,etc.

I was just thinking of our wonderful trip to Hilton Head Island, SC recently--we did have the

absolute "surprise of our lives" there the first week of August, 2007. We had believed we were

going to the island to spend the week with our son from Charlotte, NC & his family--& when we

arrived there,( me & my husband)--our son & his children excitedly wanted us to hurry upstairs & see our big, huge upstairs

bedroom, in the huge beach-house, so we did rush upstairs! Upon entering the "big upstairs bedroom"---there were all the members

of our immediate & extended family--yelling "Happy 50th. Anniversary"--well, our mouths just

fell open & we were absolutely overjoyed & thrilled to see ALL of our children there with their

spouses and ALL of our Grand-children there as well!! They were hugging & kissing us, and

taking photos of our "shocked & surprised faces"--and What a fabulous, glorious time we had

together that entire week! They had been planning this surprise for us since last Christmas, &

no one(not even the little children) had hinted a word--They even had assigned "cooking teams"

to take care of all the big dinners the entire week--& what delicious, tasty, and colorful meals

we all enjoyed too! We did all those fun "beach things" that families do, including a sandcastle

contest, played golf, & minature golf at this fabulous course nearby, went shopping, swam in

the pool endlessly there at the Huge Beach-House, & of course the beautiful Atlantic Ocean was

practically at our doorsteps! What an outstanding way to celebrate our Big Golden Anniversary--much more fun than having a "stuffy reception" for a few hours! We will always

treasure this fantastic Vacation-Anniversary Celebration at historic Hilton Head Island! We

have some great photos capturing all the fun & games with our beautiful, precious and sweet

family! Wow---isn't life just grand!!

Here we are in September already--where's the cooler weather? Oh yes, I noticed it was
already 69 deg. in Berlin--(nice for you there Jeff)! We had a nice, lazy and restful Labor Day
here at the Lake---so neat to enjoy the birds singing, wave-runners, swimmers all around, and
the frogs singing in their bass throaty voices later in the evening--& see the fireflies fluttering
all around our lounge chairs--ah-h-h the wonderful comforts of HOME-SWEET HOME!*** Not
long ago, we were cruising around on the "Grand Med Exciting Cruise of the Year"--enjoying
those exotic ports in Greece, Turkey, and Italy! Such grand scenery too all along the way!
It was in celebration of our Wedding Anniversary--and it was filled totally with absolute grand
memories to cherish! Then, a bit later on in the mid-summer, we ventured way out west,
taking in all those amazing sights in The Grand Tetons--what a view from the Grand Lodge on
Jackson Lake! Then on to the grand and glorious Yellowstone National Park--what wonders
of nature to behold--& my favorite was seeing "Old Faithful Geyser" erupt up to the blue-sky!!
After taking in all that beauty of nature up close and personal--we then drove up through beautiful Montana, and entered Glacier National Park---WOW--no-one had ever told me how beautiful
and majestic that glorious place truly is!! We loved the Many Glaciers Inn, and "the Going-to-the-Sun road, that traverses the middle of that heavenly place--so very many grand Glaciers to see! While in the park, we took a relaxing boat ride on St. Mary's lovely lake--(& on the early
morning ride that day)--they let us get off the boat at the upper end & take a hike up into the
beautiful forest to view the waterfalls there--just fantastic! While there, we saw a beautiful eagle soaring overhead in that perfect blue sky--a heavenly experience while feeling the
cool spray from the waterfall on our faces--Glorious memories to cherish!!
